Strong winds cause power outages in San Antonio, CPS Energy reports

CPS Energy says restoration may be delayed due to safety.

SAN ANTONIO — Strong winds behind Sunday night’s cold front are causing isolated power outages and downed lines across the San Antonio area, CPS Energy reports.

According to the National Weather Service, a front brought strong winds with gusts of 40 to 50 mph across South-Central Texas causing an elevated fire weather risk and a big drop in temperatures.

CPS officials said a majority of the downed lines and outages are being reported in the 78240 zip code. CPS Energy crews are monitoring conditions but said the high winds may slow restoration as crews prioritize safe repairs.

As of 9:50 p.m. Sunday night, more than 50 outages have been reported impacting more than 18,000 customers. See outage map by clicking the link.
