SAN ANTONIO — Strong overnight winds caused scattered damage across parts of Bexar County, leaving some homes damaged, trees down and a gas station awning leaning dangerously forward.
Wind gusts Sunday night into early Monday reached 50 to 55 mph in Bexar County, according to reports, knocking down debris and causing power outages in some areas.
Along Forest Hollow Drive in Live Oak, wind speeds near the area reached about 39 mph, where a large tree could be seen standing in front of a home after the storm moved through.
On the city’s east side, strong winds also damaged a gas station along Gembler Road. The winds pushed the station’s awning off balance, leaving it tilted forward and raising concerns it could collapse.
Viewer photos also captured the extent of the damage across the area.
One image from viewer Sonya Johnson showed a tree toppled over a porch near East Terrell Hills Elementary School on the northeast side.
Another photo from viewer Brittany Ford showed storm damage near the intersection of Starcrest Drive and Jones Maltsberger Road on the north side.
