Students at UTSA head back to the classroom for the fall semester

This is a major year for the university, because by this time next week, UTSA will be officially merged with UT Health San Antonio.

SAN ANTONIO — Students at UTSA are headed back to class Monday morning, and back to their regular routines.

This is a major year for the university, because by this time next week, UTSA will be officially merged with UT Health San Antonio.

That merger will happen September 1 and when it’s is complete, it will be the third-largest research university in the state.

UTSA says that the merger will offer more than 350 highly competitive degree and certificate programs from liberal arts, engineering, business, to the health sciences like dentistry, nursing, and biomedical sciences.

During their announcement which happened almost exactly a year ago, UTSA said this merger would have a direct economic impact of $6 billion dollars.

The university is having special events and activities related to the merger as students come back to campus.

Those are just a few things, the university says are major milestones happening this year on their campus.
