Cibolo police said officials were notified that the same threatening message was also left at Boerne High School on Wednesday.
SAN ANTONIO — Students were evacuated and classes were canceled Wednesday at Steele High School after a bomb threat was reported to the campus, according to the Cibolo Police Department.
Police said officers received information from school administrators about a threatening message left on the school’s recorded phone line. When officers arrived, they listened to the message and immediately began evacuating the campus as a precaution for students and staff safety, according to CPD.
The Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District decided to cancel school for the day because of the threat, police said.
In a statement to families, the district said students were en route on a bus redirected for pickup from Samuel Clemens High School. At this time, no other SCUC campuses are impacted and all other schools are operating on their regular schedule, according to district officials.
Officers remained on campus assisting with traffic control, security and safety measures, according to police.
During the investigation, officials were notified that the same threatening message had also been left at Boerne High School, police said.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, according to the Cibolo Police Department.
