Police say 19-year-old Sebastian Segovia confessed to allegedly stabbing Robert Hurley while robbing him in 2023.
SAPD first booked Segovia on two charges, criminal mischief and evading arrest for throwing rocks at their cars.
When Segovia was arrested, he allegedly told officers he wanted to speak with detectives about a murder he committed the month before.
Segovia waived his rights and told them he stabbed Robert Hurley multiple times in the neck in the middle of a robbery.
This happened on February 23 outside the Sorento Apartments on Fredericksburg Road.
Investigators say Segovia was homeless, looking for someone to rob and saw Hurley sitting by the leasing office.
That’s when police say Segovia attacked Hurley from behind, stabbing him three times in the neck.
Segovia then allegedly pushed Hurley into some bushes, took his wallet, and hid in nearby creeks until he felt safe to move.
Segovia was able to describe what was inside Hurley’s wallet to police.
Police say the info Segovia provided matched what they had in their investigation and charged him with capital murder.
According to the arrest affidavit, Hurley was diagnosed with autism and reportedly told Segovia he was sorry as he was being attacked.
We reached out to Segovia’s attorneys who say his trial is supposed to start Wednesday at 9 a.m.
