CASTLE HILLS, Texas — A San Antonio woman is accused of stealing a 98-year-old resident’s engagement and wedding rings from a Castle Hills senior living facility, then pawning the jewelry at a pawn shop, according to an arrest affidavit.
Police arrested 40-year-old Alesha McGee on a charge of theft of property valued between $2,500 and $30,000.
According to investigators, the victim’s daughter, who holds power of attorney for her mother, reported the jewelry missing on December 28, 2025.
Police say the daughter told police her 98-year-old mother had noticed three rings missing, including a sapphire ring, an engagement ring and a wedding ring, sometime between Christmas Day and December 28.
Days later, detectives say an anonymous caller contacted the senior living facility and claimed McGee had been bragging about pawning jewelry at a local pawn shop and using her own identification during the transaction.
Investigators then searched pawn transaction records and located paperwork tied to a Cash America Pawn shop on Blanco Road. According to the affidavit, records showed one of the rings had been pawned there and included identification information matching McGee.
Police say surveillance video from the pawn shop also showed McGee entering the business and completing the transaction. The victim’s daughter later identified the wedding ring as belonging to her mother, according to investigators.
McGee was arrested and charged in connection with the case.
Castle Hill police did not say if McGee was employed at the senior living facility when the alleged theft occurred.
