The homeowner said the video was from Thursday early in the afternoon.
KATY, Texas — A man was arrested Friday after he allegedly walked through a Katy neighborhood slashing tires along the way.
It happened along Westwood Pines Road and Westerpine Lane. According to the resident whose home surveillance system captured some of the incidents, at least three slashings took place around 12:45 p.m. on Thursday.
Other residents said the suspect was walking up and down the street for several hours throughout the day.
On social media, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzales identified the suspect as 22-year-old Jesus Arellano. Gonzales said a felony criminal mischief charge will be filed due to the amount of the damage.
KHOU 11 was there when authorities arrested Arellano. A sergeant at the scene of the arrest said Arellano lives in the neighborhood where the tire slashing tirade began.

“I’m like what is going on, why would someone just hit everybody,” resident Jordan Moore said.
Moore explained that it costs him about $500 to replace two tires.
“You can see he just walks up, stab, stab, stab, he said. “Just think about it, each house gets hit, that hundreds for each tire, it’s just a pain.”
Down the street, Leah Walker says just one of her tires was slashed.
“I was like why, it’s the beginning of the New Year, why do we want to start off on this foot? So it’s just an inconvenience. It doesn’t make us feel safe,” she said.
The sheriff’s office initially said there were at least 19 reports of damage. On Friday night, a sergeant at the scene confirmed there were more than 20 reports in the Westfield Village neighborhood and other adjacent neighborhoods. Residents believe more than 30 cars were impacted.
According to sheriff’s office, the suspect was found wearing the same shirt and shoes as the man seen in surveillance video slashing tires. He also had the same knife on him.
“That’s the good thing he is in custody. At least right now there’s some comfort for people in the general area in the neighborhood,” Sgt. P. Mikel said.
Anyone whose tire was slashed is asked to report it to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Auto Theft Unity at 713-221-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
