Suspect arrested in Houston for fatal shooting of Beaumont man while mowing his lawn on Saturday afternoon

Detectives from the Beaumont Police Department have identified and obtained an arrest warrant for 54-year-old Larry Fitzgerald Williams in connection with the murder

BEAUMONT, Texas — The man Beaumont Police say shot and killed a Beaumont a man in broad daylight while he was mowing his yard has been arrested.

Larry Fitzgerald Williams, 54, was arrested in Houston by the Jefferson County deputies in the warrant division and Houston Police officers at about 6:45 a.m. Monday morning in connection with the murder, according to a news release by police.

The shooting happened at the 1900 hundred block of Delaware Street according to Rodrick Williams with the Beaumont Police Department.

BPD says they received a call about the shooting at around 1:44 p.m. They arrived to find 51-year-old Brian Lewis on his lawn suffering from a gunshot wound. Lewis was later pronounced dead by EMS at the scene.

A neighbor and witness tells 12News Lewis was mowing his yard when an man on a motorcycle, later identified as Williams, pulled up and suddenly shot him before driving off.

BPD says Williams then immediately fled the scene going west on Delaware Street. 

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and are urging anyone who may know the whereabouts of Williams to contact them.
