Suspect identified after 1 killed, three injured in Dallas shooting on New Year’s Day, police say

According to police, the three victims injured are in stable condition.

DALLAS — A suspect in a shooting that killed one person and injured three others in Dallas on New Year’s Day, police said. 

According to the Dallas Police Department, officers responded to a shooting call in the 2900 block of St. George Drive around 2:35 p.m. 

Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that four people had been shot at the location and one died at the scene. According to Dallas PD, the three other victims were taken to a local hospital in stable condition. 

The suspect was later identified by police as 30-year-old Kevin Violante-Varela. He was arrested and charged with murder, police said.  

The identity of the victim who died or the suspect have not yet been released.
