Suspect in custody after incident near UTSA prompts university-wide alert

SAN ANTONIO — The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) said a suspect is in custody after issuing an alert on Thursday morning, notifying the community of an incident that occurred near the campus.

In a Facebook post, UTSA officials initially said the San Antonio Police Department was searching for an individual who was allegedly involved in an off-campus traffic stop.

The male suspect fled the scene near the Tobin Avenue Garage, prompting law enforcement to search the area, according to university officials.

A short time later, UTSA posted an update stating the suspect was in police custody.
