
The suspect later died by suicide. All three victims were also from Honduras.
SAN ANTONIO — The murder suspect in a triple-fatal shooting that occurred this weekend on the northeast side has been identified as a migrant from Honduras, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
San Antonio police said three people were killed in a shooting at a business on the city’s northeast side Saturday morning. Officers responded around 7:45 a.m. to reports of a shooting in progress at the Mission Landscape Supplies located on the 4400 block of Stahl Road near O’Connor Road.
San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said the incident involved employees of the business. After the shooting the suspect, initially identified as 21-year-old Jose Hernandez, was identified as an employee of the business.
Hernandez died after the shooting from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the medical examiner.
ICE officials said Jose David Hernandez Galo illegally entered the U.S. on April 16, 2019, as a minor, with his family. On that same date, U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested the family and served them with a notice to appear before an immigration judge.
ICE officials sent a statement in response to the deadly San Antonio shooting.
“This senseless tragedy could have been prevented. The family unit has not reported in to ICE since July 2022. The Biden administration policies at the time did not consider Galo, or his family unit, a priority,” the statement reads.
The three victims have been identified as Selvin Chacon, 48, Sergio Chacon, 38, and Karen Bautista, 24. All three victims were from Honduras, and leave behind children, to help the families a former co-worker has started a GoFundMe.
