Suspected drunk driver arrested for crash that injured 2 officers in south San Antonio, police say

The two officers involved in the crash were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

SAN ANTONIO — Two police officers were taken to the hospital after a crash on the city’s south side and a driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

The crash happened around 10:20 p.m. on Friday night at the intersection of Southeast Military Drive and Mission Road, police said.

According to the SAPD, two officers were traveling eastbound on Southeast Military Drive when they approached the intersection at Mission Road. At the same time, a Chevrolet traveling westbound on Southeast Military Drive was turning onto Mission Road when the two vehicles collided.

Police said an open alcoholic container was found in the rear of the Chevrolet.

The driver of the Chevrolet was evaluated for a DWI and was determined to be intoxicated before being taken into custody, according to SAPD.

The two officers involved in the crash were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

The San Antonio Police Department said the case remains an active and ongoing investigation.
