Brenson Lair, 33, is facing a jugging burglary of vehicle charge in connection to the incident.
And deputies say this isn’t the first time he’s suspected of stalking victims at area banks.
According to an arrest warrant, the man accused in this jugging case didn’t just follow a victim home from the bank, he came back three times trying to get his hands on cash.
Investigators say what the suspect didn’t know was that his every move was caught on camera.
Investigators say Lair’s carefully crafted jugging scheme began on October 16, when he allegedly followed a man home from a bank off the 10,000 block of Potranco Road.
The victim had just withdrawn $1,000 in cash. When he got home, he took the money inside, but a short time later, he walked back out to find his passenger window shattered.
What Lair didn’t know was that cameras were recording him the entire time.
The victim’s car cam showed Lair’s SUV following him from the bank and home surveillance video captured the moment Lair jumped out and broke into the car.
According to the warrant, he didn’t find what he was after, so he came back again and again, rummaging through the vehicle twice more.
Deputies say clear video evidence is what blew his plan apart.
A few days later, they spotted Lair’s SUV parked at two more westside banks strategically positioned so he could watch the front entrances.
When deputies tried to stop him, they say Lair refused to pull over, leading to a short pursuit before he was finally taken into custody.
Lair was arrested Wednesday and given a $7,500 bond. His last known address is in Pearland, which is outside of Houston.
Investigators have not said if he’s suspected of similar crimes in Harris County.
