Humberto Zuniga Jr. is arrested for stalking his ex, allegedly tracking her extensively and causing multiple disturbances, according to an arrest affidavit.
SAN ANTONIO — A suspended San Antonio police officer is back behind bars for the second time after investigators say he spent more than a year stalking his ex-girlfriend.
Humberto Zuniga Jr., 47, was arrested Wednesday. According to an affidavit, the harassment escalated over the past year, with the most recent incident reported Nov. 21.
Police say the victim suspected something was wrong on Nov. 19 and told officers she believed Zuniga was following her to an appointment in the Medical Center. When she walked outside, the affidavit says she spotted him hiding behind her car with a pipe wrench.
She immediately called police. Investigators later tracked Zuniga’s movements, confirming he’d been tailing her nearly minute by minute, according to the affidavit.
The victim also provided cell phone evidence showing repeated calls from Zuniga, along with photos and videos she says show him intoxicated, making threats, and pounding on her front door.
SAPD reported 34 separate calls for service to her home over the past year, everything from family disturbances and harassment to what officers described as excessive welfare checks.
The alleged behavior didn’t stop at her doorstep. Northside ISD police documented a disturbance in which Zuniga allegedly tried to pull the couple’s daughter from the victim’s car.
Court records show Zuniga also faces a separate charge from March 2024, accused of assaulting the victim’s sister.
Although Zuniga is still technically employed by SAPD, the affidavit states he is currently “indefinitely suspended.”
As of Thursday morning, jail records show Zuniga has been released on bond.
