Dr. Kenneth D. Haygood is set to go to trial next Monday, Sept. 22, for multiple counts of sexual assault and other charges.
TYLER, Texas — A suspended Tyler doctor already facing accusations of sexually assaulting several patients has been charged with his eighth sexual assault offense.
Dr. Kenneth D. Haygood is set to go to trial next Monday, Sept. 22, for multiple counts of sexual assault, one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child and another charge of practicing medicine without a license.
He was already indicted on six counts of sexual assault in addition to the assault of a child. Now, a grand jury handed down an additional indictment for sexual assault that documents show happened in between January 2021 to Dec. 31, 2022.
The indictment says Haygood inappropriately the victim without their consent. Previous arrest documents allege he sexually assaulted patients – including during examinations – in 2007, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021. He is accused of practicing medicine without his license on July 3, 2023.
Haygood was suspended in October 2023 by the Texas Medical Board for reportedly violating a June 2023 order stating he could not see or treat female patients. The board said he continued to pose a threat to “public welfare.”
The trial is scheduled to begin Monday with jury selection.
