Suspicious package near San Antonio airport cleared by bomb squad

Authorities say a suspicious device call near baggage claim was investigated and deemed safe.

SAN ANTONIO — A suspicious package prompted a bomb squad response Saturday afternoon near San Antonio International Airport.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers were called around 1 p.m. to the 9800 block of Airport Boulevard for reports of a suspicious device.

Police say the package was located near the baggage claim area, leading bomb squad units to respond and secure the scene.

After investigating, officials determined there was no threat, and the area was cleared without further incident.
