SWAT raid at northwest-side motel ends with suspect in custody, victim hospitalized, authorities say

A suspect was taken into custody, and a victim was found and transported to a hospital.

SAN ANTONIO — A Motel 6 on the northwest-side turned into the center of a major law-enforcement operation late Wednesday night after San Antonio police and SWAT units executed a raid tied to a possible kidnapping.

The raid happened just before 11 p.m. at the motel off Wurzbach Road and I-10. Police have not yet released official details, but a tip to KENS 5 indicated officers were searching for a suspected kidnapper and victim inside one of the rooms.

Video from the scene shows dozens of officers surrounding the motel, SWAT vehicles staged in the parking lot and an ambulance positioned nearby. Snipers were also seen climbing onto the roof of the adjacent Wendy’s as teams prepared to breach the room.

SWAT deployed a flashbang while forcing entry, according to information gathered at the scene.

A suspect was taken into custody, and a victim was found and transported to a hospital. Authorities have not released their names, conditions or what led up to the operation. It’s also unclear what charges the suspect may face.

The investigation is ongoing.
