Sweet Terrier mix named Roll will change your world! | Forgotten Friends

Roll arrived at the ADL with his brothers and sisters who were all sick, and is the sole survivor having overcome both Parvo and distemper.

SAN ANTONIO — Our “Forgotten Friends” series showcases a dog or cat each week that has spent a lengthy time at an area shelter, just waiting for someone to notice them and bring them home to love.

This week, we meet a one-year old Terrier mix named Roll who has been waiting at the Animal Defense League since last year. Roll arrived in the care of ADL with his littermates, sick with distemper and Parvo. All of them succumbed to the diseases except Roll, who was able to overcome and is now thriving.

Roll is sweet, cuddly, smart, and full of life.

“Roll is very dog-friendly and currently has a best friend on campus named Ladybug, a shepherd mix,” said Shelby Clark, Marketing Coordinator at ADL. “He loves everyone he meets and is very social, but we haven’t observed him with cats yet.”

Shelter staff think Roll would do best with a family that the time to play with him, snuggle, and just shower him with love. Did we mention he gets along great with other dogs?

Roll was able to overcome the distemper and Parvo, but unfortunately, he lost most of his teeth in the process.

“Because of this, his tongue often sticks out, and he prefers his kibble softened,” said Shelby. “He may also prefer softer treats and toys going forward, but that hasn’t slowed him down one bit.”

Roll loves getting pets, hugs and just being around people. And don’t forget his treats! He walks well on a leash, loves car rides, splash time, and gets along great in home settings.

“He’s currently thriving during sleepovers with one of our team members and learning from their calm senior pup,” said Shelby. “He’s playful and gentle, always checking in with his people to make sure he’s being a good boy.”

Roll is a true survivor with a heart of gold. He may look a little different with his tongue always peeking out, but he’s all puppy at heart… joyful, snuggly, and ready for a fresh start.

Roll’s resilience and sweet nature are nothing short of inspiring,” said Shelby.
