
Local institutions put their own spin on “The Life of a Showgirl” album announcement.
SAN ANTONIO — Whether it’s Whataburger, Burger Boy, UTSA—if orange is one of your favorite colors, you’re likely joining in on the anticipation for Taylor Swift’s new album, titled “The Life of a Showgirl” and revealed late Monday night.
True to the pop star’s penchant for mystery, we still haven’t seen the cover art for Swift’s new album. But she’s teased her next era by changing the main photo on her social media accounts to that of a glittery orange padlock against a green background.
Naturally, the world had some fun with it, including San Antonio institutions.
“New era, same color,” Whataburger shared on social media with a photo of the chain’s trademark W tweaked to twinkle like the Swift padlock.
Not to be outdone, San Antonio staple Burger Boy leaned in on its own orange-centric aesthetic, writing: “Always been in our orange era.”
The UTSA Alumni Association also knows a little something about orange; they weren’t going to be left out.
Even the City of San Antonio jumped onboard, giving the iconic downtown River Walk a taste of glittery orange splendor with the caption “New era, same river.”
Both the downtown Magik and Majestic theatre venues jumped onboard Tuesday afternoon, the latter theatre paying homage to its iconic neon sign.
Frost Bank Center had some fun with the fact that Swift skipped out on the Alamo City during her blockbuster Eras Tour, writing online: “See you next era?”
Swift is coming off the massive Eras Tour, which became the first to reach $2 billion. She announced earlier this year that she’d gotten back ownership of her music catalog, and though her last album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” didn’t win her any Grammys, she still has a whopping 14 wins—good for seventh all-time among female artists (Texas’ own Beyonce owns that crown with 35).
