‘Taken from us’ | Family suspects foul play in case of missing Atascosa mother

11 years of not knowing what happened to Michelle Longoria has been eating at the family but they will continue their fight for answers.

ATASCOSA COUNTY, Texas — It has been 11 years and there is still no sign of Atascosa mother Michelle Longoria.

The last time family saw Michelle was in January 2014. Her family and Atascosa County investigators said they believe foul play, played into her disappearance.

Michelle’s daughter Chelsea Lara said the last time she saw her mom is when she was 16-years-old.

“Great friend,” Lara said. “Just a great person overall. We have no other choice but to make up things in our mind of what could have happened.”

At the time in 2014, Lara said her mother’s boyfriend told them she left their home in Charlotte, southwest of Jourdanton. She then said a friend saw her mother walking along the side of a road.

“When she turned around to pick her up, I guess somebody else had already picked her up,” she said. “So, it is like from there, who picked her up? We don’t know.”

Eleven years of not knowing what happened to Michelle has been eating at the family.

“I say foul play,” Lara said. “I say something happened to her. She is the type of person that she is going to make it home. She is going to let us know that she is okay and nothing.”

The Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office reports tips have come in through the years but nothing credible. Recently, in a Facebook post, investigators said multiple leads have all led to dead ends.

Savanah Longoria said she misses everything about her sister Michelle.

“It is a roller coaster of emotions,” Longoria said. “I guess we just try to take it day-by-day.”

The family said they will continue to fight for Michelle and won’t stop.

“We are her voice,” her sister said. “At the end of the day we are never going to stop being her voice.”

“We are always going to be here for her,” Lara said. “We are always going to be fighting for her.”

The investigator over the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division said he believes foul play is a factor. He said because it has been so long, they could be dealing with skeletal remains.

He said they don’t have concrete evidence to point a finger at someone. Meantime, the Atascosa Crime Stoppers is offering a reward in this case, if you know anything call 830-769-2255.
