Takeoff: First-ever direct flight to Europe will depart from the SA International Airport

SAN ANTONIO — The very first flight from the San Antonio International Airport to Europe will take place today. Planes will land in Frankfurt, Germany making it easier for San Antonians to travel internationally. 

The first flight is set to take place at 8:35 p.m. Friday evening and it’s still not too late to buy a ticket. Economy seats are currently going at $700 round trip. 

It’s size allows 216 people to fly economy, 64 people to fly premium economy and 30 people to fly business class. 

The day has been highly anticipated since the flights were first announced back in September. The airport announced German airline, Condor, would be the first to launch the nonstop service. 

This will be the fist time people can fly directly to Europe and visit Germany. 

Currently the flights will be seasonal with the option to fly until Sept. 6.
