CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi has added a new concentration in artificial intelligence to its computer science program, a move aimed at preparing students for a changing job market.
Senior Malak Mahdy said the addition will help future Islanders better compete for careers that increasingly require knowledge of AI.
“Every career in computer science you need to have some kind of literacy in AI,” Mahdy said. “Even if you don’t understand the foundations, you need to understand how it’s going to change your field. The job requirements are going to change and they already have, so equipping students with a concentration like this is definitely going to help them get a step ahead in the job market.”
University officials said the concentration is designed to give graduates a competitive edge, helping them secure good-paying jobs in multiple industries.
