Team USA phenoms Alysa Liu, Amber Glenn and Isabeau Levito got a viral introduction ahead of their Tuesday performance.
MILAN, Metropolitan City of Milan — Millions have been introduced to a Team USA figuring skating trio, with help from the world’s biggest music superstar.
Taylor Swift introduced the “Blade Angels” in a now-viral video ahead of the women’s figure skating short program on Tuesday afternoon. The trio is made up of Alysa Liu, Amber Glenn and Isabeau Levito. The name was reportedly created by Liu, but was voted on by the trio.
“Isabeau was really set on ‘Powerpuff Girls,'” Liu previously told Olympic writer Nick McCarvel. “Amber had some ideas but I don’t remember what they were. I came up with “Blade Angels,” but I had a ton of horrible ideas, too. It was a group decision.”
Swift introduced the “American showgirl” trio to the tune of her hit song Opalite. Swift said Liu walked away from skating when she was 16 years old, but returned to it on her own terms.
“Joy fuels her now,” Swift said of Liu in the video. “Every jump, every celebration, ever performance, is a testament to the beauty of knowing yourself.”
Glenn, a two-time reigning U.S. national figure skating champion, has leaned into consistency and confidence ever since her win at the 2026 Prevagen U.S. Figure Skating Championships. Her past has been peppered with significant losses, both personal and professional, which Swift said Glenn now uses as fuel.
She’ll “be the first to tell you about how many battles she’s fought,” Swift said of Glenn. “Her superpower now is embracing the fight, and daring the world to test her self-belief.”
Levito’s Italian heritage was a focus of Swift’s introduction. The skater’s mom grew up in Milan, where the Games are being held, and her grandmother lives just minutes away from the figure skating arena.
“She’s destiny personified,” Swift said of Levito. “When you can skate like you’re meant to be out there, history has a funny way of showing up.”
