Teen accused in stabbing death in December headed to court

We’re still not naming the girl because she is a juvenile, but that may change as she is scheduled to appear for a certification and transfer hearing.

SAN ANTONIO — A 14-year-old girl who has been in juvenile detention for months may be moving into the adult system Wednesday.

We’re still not naming the girl because she is a juvenile, but that may change as she is scheduled to appear before Judge Cruz Shaw Wednesday morning for what they call a certification and transfer hearing.

The teen is accused of a murder that happened on December 30 where a man was stabbed in the neck on Stutts Drive on the east side of town.

Police were called to a disturbance and they found the girl first, and then as they looked around, they found 53-year-old Ray Allen Hardy had stab wounds to the neck. EMS tried to save him but he died on scene.

At the time, police said there had been some sort of disturbance going on and the girl tried to intervene.

When the girl made her first appearance in juvenile court five months ago, the judge was told it was her first time to be accused of a crime.

At this hearing, we will probably hear from witnesses who will recap what’s been going on with the girl since December.

Judge Cruz Shaw will then decide whether to keep her here at juvenile or if he finds that her behavior warrants a change, he can move her to the adult system, where the penalties can be more significant.

We’ll be following along for the decision.
