Teen accused of murder in Spring area was out on bond for other crimes, court docs say

After reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses, investigators learned two duos of men had previously agreed to meet to buy/sell marijuana.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Two teens have been charged in connection with the death of a man in the Spring area Friday afternoon, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

It happened on Hickory Twig Way near Cypresswood Drive at around 2 p.m. The scene is just west of the North Freeway.

Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables responded to the scene in reference to a shooting involving multiple men on foot and in a car.

HCSO said one man was shot and removed from a car after it crashed into a ditch. The passenger was unharmed and detained. The suspects left the scene on foot.

The victim, Jaden Reese, was transported to the hospital, where he died.

When homicide and crime scene investigators got to the scene, they learned that Precinct 4 deputy constables had gone to a house about one block away from the scene and detained several juveniles and adults.

HCSO said the alleged shooter, Jerdon Jones, 17, and another suspect, Lloyd Lewis, 18, were detained. After interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage, investigators said they learned two groups of men had previously agreed to meet to buy/sell marijuana.

During the transaction, one man tried to rob another and ended up shooting Reese multiple times, according to HCSO.

The passenger, along with Jones and Lewis, were transported to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to be interviewed.

After the interview, the passenger was released and Jones was charged with murder while Lewis was charged with tampering with evidence.

According to court documents, Jones was out on bond for other crimes when the murder occurred.

Court documents said Lewis returned to the scene to collect possible evidence, including shell casings and money.

Lewis and Jones appeared in court Saturday. Jones’ bond was set at $150,000 and Lewis’ bond was set at $30,000.
