Teen detained after man stabbed during altercation on northwest side, police say

A 38-year-old man was hospitalized with multiple stab wounds after a fight early Saturday morning on the city’s northwest side, according to police.

SAN ANTONIO — A 38-year-old man was taken to the hospital after being stabbed during an early morning altercation on San Antonio’s northwest side.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers were called around 6:05 a.m. Saturday to the 1300 block of Springvale Drive for a cutting in progress.

When officers arrived, they found a 38-year-old man in a parking lot with multiple stab wounds to his upper extremities.

Police say the man told officers he had been involved in a physical altercation with an unknown suspect while trying to leave the location. During the fight, investigators say the victim was punched and later stabbed with a sharp instrument.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, but police later detained a 17-year-old male nearby for further investigation.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing, and the information released so far is subject to change.
