SAN ANTONIO — A 17-year-old is facing charges after police say he tried to get rid of a gun that a a toddler somehow got a hold of and ended up shooting himself.
This happened Sunday, on Candleview Court near Foster Road and I-10.
BCSO tells us Kuhl told them he left the loaded weapon on top of a dresser. That’s where the 2-year old found the gun and shot himself, grazing his forehead.
Despite Kuhl reportedly trying to discard the gun, it was later found by investigators.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar once again stressed the importance of gun safety at all times.
Kuhl is faces charges of making a firearm accessible to a child, injury to a child, and tampering with evidence.
That toddler was alert when he was taken to the hospital, with what Salazar says were non-life-threatening injuries.
This is a developing story.
