SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio teenager who has been on life support after getting the flu is showing signs of improvement in her recovery, her family said on her GoFundMe page.
Earlier this month, Alina Valenzuela’s sister told KENS 5 Alina had come down with the flu. Complications caused issues with her heart causing Alina to undergo multiple surgeries putting her in the ICU. The family asked for prayers at the time in helping Alina’s journey to recovery.
Monday, her family posted an update on her condition. The post says, “Alina’s lungs and kidneys are still in the process of recovery, but her heart has regained full function. We are grateful for the prayers, which we believe have played a significant role in her progress.”
The Pearsall senior had been hospitalized before after getting COVID at the age of 14. Her family says she went into heart failure and her leg had to be amputated at that time.
Since then, Alina had recovered well and even started her own business doing nails.
