SAN ANTONIO — An informal boxing match just south of downtown resulted in a teenager being shot in the head early Saturday morning, police say.
SAPD was called to the 600 block of Indianola around 5:11 a.m. for a shooting in progress. When they arrived, they found a 17-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the head.
Witnesses told police that the teen was scheduled to do an “informal boxing match” in the parking lot that morning. As the match was happening, the suspect, unprovoked, allegedly shot the teen in the head.
The suspect fled the scene before police could arrive. They have not been arrested as of Saturday morning.
The teen was taken to the hospital and was last known to have life-threatening injuries.
