Teen shot in leg on south side gives conflicting accounts to police

Investigators say the 15-year-old changed his story while officers worked to determine what happened.

SAN ANTONIO — A 15-year-old boy was hospitalized after a shooting on San Antonio’s south side early Monday morning, but police say the victim gave investigators conflicting accounts of what led up to the gunfire.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers responded around 2:36 a.m. to the 600 block of West Harlan Avenue for a reported shooting.

Investigators say the teen initially told officers he was walking home with a group of friends when an unknown person shot him.

Police say the teen later changed his story, claiming he was walking alone when two unknown suspects pulled up in a vehicle and shot him in the lower left leg.

The teen was transported to University Hospital in stable condition.

Authorities say the case remains an active and ongoing investigation.
