According to law enforcement and the family of Simon Cuevas, 17-year-old Andrew Cantu turned himself in to authorities early Sunday morning.
SAN ANTONIO — A teen wanted in connection to the capital murder of a 14-year-old boy has turned himself in, according to law enforcement and the victim’s family.
Authorities say 17-year-old Andrew Cantu turned himself in early Sunday morning. This comes after police had released a picture of him in late September, saying he was wanted for the capital murder of Simon Cuevas. This is according to law enforcement and Simon’s family.

The 14-year-old was brutally murdered when he was beaten and shot as he walked home from school on April 16, 2025.
Two teenage brothers, age 14 and 16, were arrested and charged with capital murder back in August. The two are being accused of attacking Simon, along with 18-year-old Fernando Flores who faces a capital murder charge in the adult system. Police had been looking for 20-year-old Caesar Tijerina in connection to the case, but he committed suicide before being taken into custody by police.
On Sept. 19, police then said they were looking for Andrew Cantu, 17, who was wanted for capital murder in connection with Cuevas’ death.
Now, it appears that Cantu is in custody.
The murder case has been a topic of high interest as police shared video evidence of a group of young men targeting the victim in west San Antonio earlier this year.
