Teenage suspect in custody after hours-long standoff with SAPD

Officers say he had four additional outstanding felony warrants, including one for aggravated kidnapping.

SAN ANTONIO — A man is now in custody after an hours-long standoff with police on the northwest side. SAPD says he also had four additional outstanding warrants.

San Antonio Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Trudell Drive near Cherry Ridge Drive and Loop 410 around 7 p.m. Sunday to arrest the suspect on outstanding warrants.

Officers say the 18-year-old suspect had been “playing cat and mouse” with them, evading arrest. SWAT officers were dispatched when the suspect would not come out of the home. Police say that around four and a half hours later, he finally gave up and came out of the house.

SAPD says that a missing girl had been found at this home about one week ago.

Police say the teen had a total of five outstanding warrants, including four felony warrants, for his arrest. One of the warrants was aggravated kidnapping.

There were concerns that another missing teenage girl who was friends with the one found at the location last week might also be in the house, but the suspect was alone.

Police have not yet released the man’s name or exact details on his charges.

This is a developing story.
