
The incident commander said no one was home in the apartment where the fire started in a bedroom.
SAN ANTONIO — All the people who scrambled out of bed at 4 a.m. were safe from an eastside apartment fire, but one neighbor says ten puppies died.
It happened in the 4500 block of Lavender Lane near South WW White Road.
First arriving firefighters found a first-floor unit on fire when they arrived and they say all the other residents in the building were able to evacuate safely. Officials say there were around 14 dogs total living inside the apartment.
The incident commander said no one was home in the apartment where the fire started in a bedroom.
They were able to get the flames under control quickly and keep it from spreading to other units.
Fire investigators were called to look for a cause.
