Tesla, Elon Musk sued by shareholders over Robotaxi claims

Shareholders are suing Tesla and Elon Musk, claiming that false statements about driverless taxis led to a stock drop.

AUSTIN, Texas — Tesla shareholders filed a class action lawsuit on Monday, accusing Elon Musk and the company of making false claims about the company’s driverless taxi service.

Shareholders are accusing Musk and Tesla’s current and former CFOs of making false and misleading statements about the effectiveness and safety of Tesla’s Robotaxi driverless service, which launched in Austin in June.

The lawsuit claims that Musk’s allegedly false statements, combined with reports of Robotaxis speeding and breaking traffic laws, contributed to a decline in Tesla’s stock price.

Shareholders are requesting a jury trial to recover losses from the drop in Tesla’s stock price.
