HOUSTON — The Houston Texans backfield is expected to get a boost with the signing of veteran running back Nick Chubb, according to multiple reports.
Both Ian Rapoport of NFL Network and ESPN cited sources saying Chubb will sign with Houston if he passes his physical. ESPN is reporting it would be a one-year deal.
Chubb, a four-time Pro Bowler, would team up with Joe Mixon to give Houston a powerful 1-2 punch at running back.
For his career – all with the Cleveland Browns – Chubb has 6,843 yards rushing and 51 touchdowns on 1,340 attempts.
He’s also a threat receiving, having caught 128 passes for more than 1,000 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Chubb’s biggest year running the ball came in 2022 when he rushed for 1,525 yards and 12 touchdowns. The next year, he suffered a season-ending knee injury during the second game of the season against Pittsburgh. He played in eight games in 2024, rushing for 332 yards on 102 carries before a broken foot ended that season.
Chubb was a second-round pick out of the University of Georgia in 2018.
This is a developing story. We’ll post updates as we get them.
