TEXAS, USA — A Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitive sought in a murder case has been returned to U.S. custody after his capture in Mexico, authorities said.
Elijah Turner Reyes, 25, a documented member of the Piru Bloods gang from El Paso, was arrested Feb. 19 at an apartment in Tijuana, Mexico. He was deported to the United States on Feb. 21 and turned over to American authorities, officials said. A Crime Stoppers reward will be paid in connection with his arrest.
Reyes had been wanted by the El Paso Police Department since May 2025 on a murder charge. In June 2025, additional warrants were issued in El Paso County for failing to appear in court on prior charges of burglary of a habitation, possession of a controlled substance and assault of a pregnant woman.
Authorities said members of the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force in El Paso, including special agents with the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigations Division, coordinated efforts to locate and apprehend Reyes after receiving information from an anonymous tipster. The El Paso Police Department assisted in the investigation.
In 2019, Reyes was convicted of aggravated robbery and sentenced to five years in prison. He was released from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in January 2024.
