Texas A&M shares emotional update on iconic campus figure

Texas A&M’s Reveille X is back to her full duties after surgery and a benign pathology report, the university confirmed.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Texas A&M’s First Lady of Aggieland, Miss Reveille X, is officially back to her usual routine following a successful surgery and a promising pathology report.

In a new update shared Friday morning by Texas A&M President Mark A. Welsh III, the university confirmed that the abnormal tissue removed from Miss Rev during surgery was benign, a major relief for the Aggie community.

“The pathology report from her recent surgery has been reviewed by our extraordinary veterinary care team, who have confirmed the tissue is benign – the best possible result for our beloved Miss Rev,” Welsh said.

Miss Rev underwent surgery on July 23 to relieve discomfort caused by glaucoma in her right eye. During the procedure, veterinarians discovered abnormal tissue and removed the eye out of an abundance of caution. The tissue was sent to an ocular pathologist for evaluation, and Rev was later discharged to rest and recover.

Now, she’s back, stitches removed and spirit restored.

“She has resumed her eat, play, rule-the-world schedule,” Welsh said. “In all seriousness, we are blessed to have such an incredible team surrounding Miss Rev.”

A special shoutout was given to Mascot Corporal Wilson Winchester ’28 and the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital for their ongoing care and expertise.

The university echoed the sentiment in a follow-up post, saying:

“Fall in Aggieland just wouldn’t be the same without Reveille X leading the way!”

With her recovery progressing smoothly, Miss Rev is expected to resume her duties in the fall, from classroom visits to gameday appearances. And according to Welsh, campus squirrels might want to stay alert:

“The queen is back!”
