Texas A&M student Brianna Aguilera’s death ruled a suicide by Travis County medical examiner

Aguilera died after falling from a 17-story balcony in late 2025 in the West Campus area of downtown Austin.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Travis County Medical Examiner has ruled the death of Brianna Aguilera a suicide, paving the way for Austin police to close their investigation into her death after she fell from a 17-story balcony in West Campus late last year.

Three law enforcement sources confirmed the information to KVUE Senior Reporter Tony Plohetski.

Aguilera’s death sparked widespread speculation that she may have been the victim of a homicide. The family hired high-profile Houston attorney Tony Buzbee to represent them, and he has repeatedly asserted that the Austin police investigation into her death was inadequate and incomplete.

The medical examiner’s report is based on information supplied by Austin police as well as their own independent investigation.

The document is expected to be fully released Friday.
