“This is the hardest thing that a family’s going to have to do, especially if it was a child.”
A Kerrville-born businessman is providing free custom caskets to families affected by the recent Hill Country flooding, continuing his mission to help communities during their darkest moments.
Trey Ganem, owner of SoulShine Industries in Edna, has been receiving nonstop calls from families seeking help to lay their loved ones to rest following the devastating floods. His custom casket company is now working around the clock to provide donated caskets to flood victims’ families at no cost.
“This is the hardest thing that a family’s going to have to do, especially if it was a child. But we are helping with grandparents and fathers and mothers and children,” Ganem said.
This isn’t the first time Ganem has stepped up during a tragedy. The casket maker previously designed and donated custom caskets to families in Uvalde after the school shooting, demonstrating his commitment to supporting Texas communities in crisis.
Ganem’s ability to provide this service comes through his nonprofit foundation, which enables his company to offer free caskets to grieving families. The community response has been overwhelming, with local volunteers stepping forward to help transport and deliver caskets wherever they’re needed.
His team at SoulShine Industries is already hard at work crafting the custom caskets as families across the Hill Country face the difficult reality of burying their loved ones lost to the flooding.
