Texas law enforcement tracks down wanted fugitive in northeast-side San Antonio neighborhood

A heavy police presence on San Antonio’s northeast side Thursday afternoon led to the arrest of a fugitive wanted on multiple felony warrants, officials confirm.

SAN ANTONIO — A statewide manhunt led to an arrest on San Antonio’s northeast side on Tuesday afternoon, according to officials.

Around 1:30 p.m., law enforcement officers surrounded a home in the 9400 block of Heidelberg Street, near Randolph Boulevard and I-35.

With assistance from the San Antonio Police Department, Texas DPS troopers converged on the neighborhood in search of a wanted fugitive they believed was inside the home.

Moments later, authorities were seen taking a man into custody in handcuffs before transporting him to jail.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Texas Rangers were searching for Tracy Brown, who was wanted on a failure to appear warrant tied to a 2023 drug charge.

The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed it issued the warrant, which is connected to a first-degree felony offense that carries a significant penalty.

DPS officials also said the Kenedy County Sheriff’s Office requested the Rangers’ involvement in locating Brown. Authorities said he was also wanted there on a similar warrant.

Online jail records show Brown was arrested in Bexar County in December 2024 on a warrant issued by the Kenedy County Sheriff’s Office. Those records indicate he was wanted in Kenedy County on a charge of human smuggling involving serious bodily injury or death.

Details of that case were not immediately available. Attempts to reach the Kenedy County Sheriff for additional information were unsuccessful.
