Kenneth Leon Wright, 41, is charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault on a family member.
HOUSTON — A 41-year-old Houston man is facing two felony charges after authorities said he held his girlfriend captive for about half a year.
Kenneth Leon Wright is charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault on a family member.
Wright was in court on Saturday evening, where details of the allegations were read aloud.
According to investigators, Wright forced his girlfriend to stay at his apartment against her will for about six months. They said he threatened to kill her if she tried to leave.
Officers said the windows of the apartment were boarded up. They also said that when the victim’s sister tried to call her, Wright snatched the phone and hung up the call.
Officials said two days before she was rescued, Wright’s girlfriend tried to leave the apartment, but he caught her and punched her in the face several times.
Officials said Wright has spent his life in the Houston area and has worked for a landscaping company for the past 10 years. His bond was set at $75,000 for the aggravated kidnapping charge and $25,000 for the family assault charge.
