Texas man arrested after accusation, investigation into child sexual assault at Belton hospital

BELTON, Texas — A man that previously worked at a hospital as a PE coach in Belton has been arrested following an investigation into a report of child sexual assault, according to Belton authorities.

Officials say a 15-year-old student made the report that they had been sexually assaulted in September 2024 to a Cedar Crest staff member, who informed Belton Police of the report.

An investigation was launched into the claim and after a lengthy investigation, a felony arrest warrant was obtained by Belton PD from the Bell County District Attorney’s Office on Monday, May 19. The suspect accused of the sexual assault, identified as David Paul Jones, 58, of Temple, was arrested on Thursday, May 22.

According to an arrest affidavit, two other children also brought forward that they had been sexually assaulted and groomed by Jones.

Jones currently is in the Bell County Jail on a $250,000 bond for a second-degree felony charge of Sexual Assault of a Child, according to Bell County Jail Records. Authorities say he worked as a contracted PE coach at the psychiatric facility and residential treatment center from November 2023 to September 2024.
