HONDO, Texas — Authorities have arrested a Hondo man who allegedly attempted to overthrow the United States Government.
On or about June 28, Jay Anthony Villarreal allegedly stated “today was the day to driver to Washington D.C. and overthrow the government.”
Shortly after, Villarreal is accused of obtaining directions for the Federal Reserve in New York and sent a text from the Western District of Texas to a friends in the Northern District of Georgia that read:
“It’s on the way to the federal reserve… I plan to destroy their money-making machines.”
Around the same date, Villarreal allegedly left his Hondo home with the intent to carry out a violent attack to try and overthrow the government.
When Villarreal left his home, officials say he was carrying three loaded firearms, including an AR-15 semi-automatic assault weapon, a .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol and a .9 mm semi-automatic pistol. He allegedly also had extra load magazines and multiple boxes of ammunition for each gun, along with a police scanner, binoculars, a bible and the Texas Penal Code.
