Texas man charged with murder in connection to 2025 fentanyl death in Williamson County

Garrett Wise, 33, is accused of being involved in distributing fentanyl that resulted in the death of 30-year-old Jensen Anders in March 2025.

AUSTIN, Texas — A man is facing a murder charge in connection to a 2025 fentanyl-related death in northeastern Williamson County.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, 33-year-old Garrett Wise was arrested on March 19 in connection to the death of 30-year-old Jensen Anders in March 2025.

Jensen was found dead at a residence in the 50 block of County Road 433 in Thrall, and it was determined that her death came as a result of being exposed to fentanyl.

According to investigators, Wise was allegedly involved in distributing the fentanyl that led to Anders’ death.

The U.S. Marshals-aligned Lone Star Fugitive Task Force assisted Williamson County deputies in arresting Wise. During the arrest, law enforcement discovered that he was in possession of alleged fentanyl.

During the 2023 legislative session, Texas lawmakers passed a bill to allow fentanyl dealers to be charged with murder if a fentanyl overdose results in death. The law also requires that death certificates specify fentanyl toxicity or fentanyl poisoning as the cause of death, instead of an overdose.

Gov. Greg Abbott signed the bill into law in June 2023.
