Texas man went on to become champion after Olympic dreams crushed; still weightlifting at 93

TYLER, Texas — Fred Mullin was snowed in at the Air Force base when he stumbled upon a 1932 magazine about Olympic weightlifting.

Seventeen years old at the time, Mullin thought to himself, “I can do that.”

And so his passion was born. Now 93 and living at Atria Willow Park in Tyler, Mullin still lifts weights daily.
