Texas Mexican Mafia member from San Antonio sentenced for role in meth trafficking conspiracy

54-year-old David Botello, aka “Torito,” “Bully” or “Bully-Man” was a “lieutenant of lieutenants” in the Texas Mexican Mafia, according to court documents.

SAN ANTONIO — A Texas Mexican Mafia gang member from San Antonio has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for his role in a meth trafficking conspiracy.

54-year-old David Botello, aka “Torito,” “Bully” or “Bully-Man” was a “lieutenant of lieutenants” in the Texas Mexican Mafia, according to court documents. Previously, he had also been convicted of murder and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

Botello’s role was found out throughout the course of a Drug Enforcement Administration-led investigation that began in July 2020.

On or about July 28, 2020, Botello was arrested by SAPD during a traffic stop after officers discovered that he was driving without a license. There was also about 150 grams of meth, nine new cell phones and $585 found in his possession. Further investigation revealed that Botello was conspiring with other Mafia members to distribute meth.

On April 21, 2021, Botello was charged “in three counts of a 14-count indictment that included 11 co-defendants.” He was also charged with two counts related to meth trafficking as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm.

On December 11, 2024, Botello pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine.
