Restoration of Hope has been turning a mess into a message of hope.
KERRVILLE, Texas — Monday marks the second day where the volunteer headquarters at Tivy Antler Stadium was empty as the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office pauses volunteer efforts due to severe weather.
KENS 5 spoke with Restoration of Hope ministry out of Texarkana who says rain or shine, they’ll turn a mess into a message.
Executive Director Danny Stone said he is overcome with gratitude by the 15 volunteers who have been able to make a difference on Waterfront Drive.
“Every one of us have been to prison at one time in their life,” Stone said. “A lot of these men have great talents, sometimes they just need a better mindset of how to live their life.”
The faith-based ministry is restoring faith on Waterfront Drive in Kerrville.
“We’ve pretty much have been able to clean up most of the yards,” he said. “We brought down a bobcat and some chainsaws. And some roll-off dumpsters. We offer free of charge to help, to do what we can do.”
The ministry helps men who come out of prison transition back into society, their clean up efforts this past week hasn’t gone unnoticed.
“We helped the lady over here empty out her house,” Stone said. “It was just her and her husband. It was kind of unstable so they asked us to come in and we helped completely move [things] out of their home as well.”
The group of 15 has been turning a mess into a message of hope.
“Our ministry is built on men that’s come out of prison has spent their life taken from the community,” Stone said. “Now they have an opportunity to give back to the community. That’s a message in itself.”
