Texas mother at center of statewide AMBER Alert arrested after 3-year-old girl found safe

Authorities have safely recovered a 3-year-old girl and arrested her mother after an AMBER Alert is discontinued in Bexar County.

SAN ANTONIO — An AMBER Alert has been discontinued after the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office says they have found the 3-year-old girl safe and arrested her mother.

The alert was issued more than a month after the girl and her mother were last seen on July 7 in the 7100 block of Oldham Drive.

Around 2 p.m. Saturday, investigators found Amber Heaviland at her home off of Oldham Drive.

Once officials made entry into the home, Heaviland was placed under arrest and her 3-year-old daughter was recovered safely.

Heaviland has been taken to the Bexar County Jail and is facing a charge of interference with child custody.

BCSO said at this time, the 3-year-old will be removed from Heaviland’s custody due to concerns of ongoing drug use, neglect and possible abuse to the young girl.

This is an ongoing investigation.
