SAN ANTONIO — If you like playing putt-putt golf… you may lose your mind at San Antonio’s newest offering: PopStroke!
It’s 36 holes of the most fun putt-putt golf you could ever imagine. There are two courses, so it can be fun and relatively easy… or so hard and still fun, it’s almost frustrating!
The course is plush with thick, synthetic greens, deep white turf bunkers and more hills than the Texas Hill Country. The course is lined with palm trees and landscaping, and music blasts through overhead speakers as you play your round.
There are also four gigantic video screens that allow you to keep an eye on your favorite team as you play. Perhaps one of the neatest features is you can order drinks, alcohol or non-alcoholic beverages, and have them delivered to you while you play your round.
They also have ping-pong tables, cornhole and even a play area for the little kids. Then when you finish your round, or perhaps before you start, you can enjoy a great meal. They offer everything from your standard hamburger to blackened shrimp tacos, to seasoned salmon.
I took my kids to play a round on New Year’s Eve and the place was packed. Still, we only had to wait a few minutes on each hole and the round moved along fairly quickly. Afterward we enjoyed a great dinner, then had Bluebell ice cream from their ice cream shop. This is now one of our favorite, family-friendly places in San Antonio.
It’s all done on a first come, first served basis and they don’t take reservations. Their daily passes let you play literally all day. You can play in the morning, take a break and come back later to play another round. They also have memberships.
