The Escape Game will put your thought process and deductive reasoning to the test.
SAN ANTONIO — If you’re one of those who thinks you can figure things out pretty easily, think again. The Escape Game in San Antonio will test your ability at a whole, new level. These games are designed to make a thinker, think differently. I was lucky I had a couple of pretty sharp women with me.
Deborah Knapp and Sarah Duran agreed to accompany me to my first ever visit to an escape room. Sarah had been before and it turned out to be a huge help. Even when you are given clues, which you’re allowed to get as many as you want, they aren’t necessarily black and white.
We decided to play the “Descend” game. You are placed in a room, designed to look like a submarine, shown a video giving you a storyline, and an order of things to accomplish. Then you have to start searching for clues to complete the tasks, which always lead to another task.
After solving three or four task…another door opened. We stepped into, thinking okay…what do we do now. The clues are really difficult to see sometimes and the puzzle almost always tougher to figure out. Luckily for us, Sarah had played another game here, so she had a much better idea of how to approach and put the clues together.
After guiding us through several of them, Deborah and i began to catch on and the three of us made a formidable team. Oh, by the way you are only given 60 minutes to escape the game. Those 60 minutes go by much faster than you think. After solving several more puzzles, another room opened with one more challenge.
We solved it relatively quickly, grabbed the item we had been searching for, for the past 55 minutes and made our way back to the room in which we started. Then we had to complete the last portion of our escape…which took us down to only having about 3 minutes left on the clock, but we did escape!
